Our goal is to make the Manufacturing industry a safer place to work and create a culture of safety wherein every worker safely returns home to his/her family each night. The Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC (“the Alliance”) was established to reduce injuries in the industry. We serve a demographic of approximately 3000 manufacturers in BC and employ a professional team of health & safety specialists to support our members. We deliver a range of occupational health & safety advisory services, resources, training, and provide the Occupational Safety Standard Program for the Manufacturing industry. We are a not-for-profit industry organization passionate about what we do and how we impact people every day. Project Background and Overview

The Radiation Safety Institute of Canada (RSIC), WorkSafeBC Emerging Risk Unit and the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC have worked together to learn about the prevalence of radiation risk and control in a targeted manufacturing high risk group.

RSIC is Canada’s national resource centre for radiation safety information; it provides a range of radiation health and safety services to a large Canadian audience and collaborates with other organizations and agencies to facilitate the reach and impact of their services across Canada.

With the anticipated growth in the use of X-ray and related technology, the risk level is expected to rise and without effective radiation risk and control programs, a serious emerging health risk is impacting BC’s manufacturing sector. To address this emerging challenge, the Alliance has partnered with RSIC to develop and deliver Radiation Risk Prevention program resources and training materials. Phase I of this initiative was successfully completed in 2018, leading to Phase II to be implemented in 2019.

Profile Summary

The core function of the position is to support the designing, branding and user interface for delivery of resources and training materials for the Radiation Prevention program, through digital and print medium.

This position is an eight month contract from February 2019 till September 2019, and will report to the Project Manager leading the project.

Key activities and responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with the Alliance’s resource development and support teams in developing training material and content using instructional design
  • Assist the development of tools, resources and training (digital and print)
  • Support the Resources and Training Development Specialist working on this project to obtain industry feedback
  • Design materials to provide positive user experience: readability, accessibility, utilization of resources developed
  • Develop platforms for enhanced user interfaces and applications
  • Align resource package and training materials with MSABC brand standards

Education and skills

  • Responsive, Interactive web development experience including HTML5, JavaScript, jQuery, PHP, MySQL
  • WordPress Development/Management: Plugin development will be a huge asset
  • Adobe Creative Cloud: Experience with Adobe Products is an asset, especially vector illustration
  • Excellent Graphic Design computer skills and proficient in excel, word, outlook, and access
  • Comprehensive understanding of Brand Management, Graphic Design and Design Software tools
  • Comprehensive understanding and ability in navigating the internet to conduct market research as required
