Our goal is to make the manufacturing industry a safer place to work—creating a culture of safety where every worker returns home safely to his or her family each night. The Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC (“the Alliance”) was established to reduce injuries in the industry. We serve a demographic of approximately 3000 manufacturers in BC, and employ a professional team of health and safety specialists to support our members. We deliver a range of occupational health and safety advisory services, resources, and training, and provide the Occupational Safety Standard Program for the manufacturing industry. The Alliance is a not-for-profit industry organization, passionate about what we do and how we impact people every day. The individual we seek for this role needs to share this same passion to achieve success. Our targets are unique but the results impact many.

Profile Summary

The aim of the Safety Advisor is to offer value to our members without compromise, deliver the highest level of service by assisting our members to implement Health & Safety Management Systems that meet and exceed Occupational Health & Safety standards, seek to attain the OSSE standard of Excellence and become OSSE certified.

Key activities and responsibilities

  • Gap Analysis: Perform Gap Analysis, develop and present findings and action plans to members
  • In conjunction with our members develop and execute Health & Safety Management programs (i.e. OSSE) as defined in the Action Plan
  • Engage members to review progress made in the execution of the Action Plan
  • Ensure specific objectives and deliverables for each client engagement are defined in advance of engagement meetings
  • Complete reports for all clients engaged
  • Update and verify all pertinent and accurate information in CRM
  • Optimize the full resources provided by the Alliance with our members
  • Engage and facilitate the promotion of Health & Safety as a core value to all members
  • Facilitate Training sessions as required and as detailed in the action plans
  • Advise members of compliance standards, best practices and procedures to mitigate risk and ensure minimum standards are attained
  • Work with members to surpass minimum compliance standards
  • Collaborate/facilitate communication between our members and the Services team sharing best practices, initiatives and OH&S standards
  • Represent the Alliance at professional body meetings in a positive manner
  • Continuously update and apprise on best practices, compliance legislation and industry standards

Education & Experience:

  • Certificate or diploma in Health and Safety or an equivalent educational background. CRSP designation preferred
  • Three or more years of related practical health and safety experience
