In this four-part, virtual classroom training, students will learn the role and responsibilities of the joint health and safety committee (JHSC) and how the committee supports health and safety in the workplace. Students will explore the available tools to carry out the duties of the Joint Health and Safety Committee effectively. They will also learn about the legal requirements in BC workplaces as defined by WorkSafeBC. This course is ideal training for new and experienced JHSC members and their alternates.
Joint Health and Safety Committee supports the employer’s duty to ensure a healthy and safe workplace and plays a critical role in your health and safety program. The JHSC brings together workers and management representatives to work together and identify challenges and solutions in workplace health and safety. Members must complete eight hours of health and safety training per year.
