GUIDEBOOK

Safety Management System Planner

The guide does not reflect an individual organization’s occupational health and safety program but is based on the standard set by the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC’s OSSE Certificate of Recognition (COR) Program Audit Tool. OSSE is the Occupational Safety Standard of Excellence.

Many items in an occupational health and safety management system are based upon time frequencies during the year. This guide allows the employer or an OHS professional to assign their own starting and end point for the maintenance of their individual OHS program. This guide also assists employers with maintaining their occupational health and safety program within the OSSE standard. The guide serves as a tool for maintaining an employer’s OHS system for OSSE re-certification and maintenance years of the audit cycle.

How to use this Guide
When all the sections of each element are pulled together, an employer has a powerful tool in their hands that will allow them to create or maintain an occupational health and safety management system. This guide will allow an employer to effectively manage all aspects of their OHS program for years to come. Each element of the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC’s OSSE Audit Tool is represented in this guide and subdivided into three parts:

  1. Key Guidelines

  2. My Required Tasks

  3. My Task Planner
