Melanie Kowalski-Fleming lives outside St. Thomas, Ontario, with her son and extended family. She has worked in an industrial setting for over 25 years. Her current role is in the automotive manufacturing sector. Melanie is dedicated to her family and passionate about volunteering.
In 2011, Melanie’s family experienced a life-altering and devastating workplace tragedy. Melanie has become a Threads of Life family member and volunteer. Threads of Life helps families aff ected by a workplace fatality, life-altering injury or occupational disease along their journey of healing. It provides these families with referrals and a one-on-one peer support program delivered by trained Volunteer Family Guides who have also experienced a workplace tragedy.
Threads of Life is currently working with thousands of family members from across Canada who have been aff ected by a workplace tragedy. Melanie shares her story in the hope of preventing another family from having to experience a workplace tragedy and to heighten awareness about what we can do in our own workplaces to be an advocate for safety.
