Building Better Teams

Teams are crucial for achieving organizational goals like service, quality, and performance. By the end of the course, learners will have enhanced their problem-solving skills, and their ability to boost team motivation and foster collaboration.

This online course is developed to introduce learners to the fundamentals of building effective teams. 

Goals and Objectives

By the end of this course, the participants should be able to: 

  • Recognize the value of working as a team
  • Develop team norms, ground rules, and team contracts
  • Recognize the degrees of support to identify your position and gather consensus
  • Identify your team player style and how it can be used effectively with your own team
  • Recognize the importance of trust within a team
  • Identify the stages of team development and how to help a team move through them
  • Identify ways that team members can be involved and grow in a team setting
  • Identify strategies for virtual team success, including scheduling and conducting team meetings and team bonding in a virtual environment
  • Recognize the critical role communication skills will play in building and maintaining a team atmosphere

Course Length and Format

The eLearning course is structured using self-paced online components including various practical learning activities in each module. Modules are supported with various resources and examples. It is estimated to take 1.5 hours to complete the training. We recommend completing the course in one sitting, but it does not need to be, as your progress will be tracked throughout.

Participants must have access to a laptop/desktop computer or iPad/tablet to attend the training sessions.  A good internet or WIFI connection is essential.

Pre-requisites

Previous health and safety education and/or experience is an asset but not required.

Course Evaluation

There is a written assessment for this course. Upon successful completion of all course modules and the written assessment, learners will be awarded a Certificate of Completion. Learners will need to complete all 2 course elements (Learning Component and Post-course assessment) to be able to download their certificate of completion.
