Hearing conservation
Noise levels above 85 decibels can harm a worker’s hearing. If the noise level is above the acceptable limit, a hearing conservation program is required.
This program should include:
- Noise level surveys to identify hazardous noise levels in the workplace
- Selection of adequate personal protective equipment (hearing protection)
- Audiometric testing (also known as hearing tests) of all workers at-risk
- Training and supervision of all workers at-risk
