MSABC Presents to Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association
Jean Fong2023-11-22T15:11:36-08:00On Thu, Nov 16, Safety Advisor—Occupational Hygiene Specialist Brendan Talbot was invited to speak at the Sheet Metal and Air-Conditioning Contractors’ National Association—BC Chapter (SMACNA-BC) November membership meeting.
Brendan provided a riveting presentation on emergency response and preparedness to workers and business leaders alike in the industry—helping improve the health and safety of hundreds of people across BC.
Using his expertise in occupational hygiene and health, he provided vital insights and information about crucial emergency safety protocols for this industry. Brendan reminded attendees that it was important to be clear and identify a worker’s roles and responsibilities during an emergency. He reviewed the significance of identifying potential risks and hazards in advance—including what tools are available to help understand what potential climate and environmental hazards may exist—to prepare appropriate response plans. To end off his presentation, he commented upon the need for appropriate hazard and risk analysis before re-starting work and re-entry after an emergency.
The information Brendan provided SMACNA-BC will assist the many companies in attendance from the sheet metal and HVAC industries to strengthen their actions in keeping their workers safe across BC.
