106: Evaluate human factors and process controls

An OHS professional should demonstrate thorough understanding of process and ergonomic controls. Beyond the ongoing maintenance of controls, an OHS professional should demonstrate the ability to evaluate administrative controls which an organization has in place, identifying areas for improvement, as well as areas of excellence.

This includes process and ergonomic controls that impact the ability of workers to safely perform their tasks, for example:

– Process and equipment instrumentation and control
– Human factors and ergonomics (including physical and cognitive ergonomics)
– User-centered design
– Workplace layout
– Impact of technology, including automation
– Material, process, and workflow analysis
