Safety Support | Your Communicable Disease Program
In June of this year, a Provincial Health Officer statement signaled employers to transition from a COVID-19 Safety Plan to communicable disease prevention. With the pandemic still impacting our daily lives, many businesses continue to operate with existing COVID-19 controls in place. An effective communicable disease prevention plan, however, will help reduce transmission of all forms of illness in the workplace—including COVID-19.
Critical elements of your communicable disease plan include:
- Policies that support staff to stay home when sick
- Hand hygiene
- Cleaning and sanitizing of the workplace
- Effective ventilation
- Support for vaccination to reduce the spread of COVID-19 and seasonal flu
