OHS professionals must continue to learn and develop their skills to keep current with changing risk, risk-tolerance levels, technology, and behaviors in the workplace. In assessing personal OHS competence, a professional must demonstrate:

– Self-awareness of strengths, weaknesses and opportunities for development
– Accountability for own behaviour, deliverables, health and wellbeing
– Awareness and understanding of current and evolving best practice
– Willingness to develop skills or knowledge required
– Commitment to continuing professional development
