Associate Member: Manufacturing & Export Enhancement (MEE) Cluster
We’re excited to be welcoming the Manufacturing & Export Enhancement Cluster as an Associate Member of the Alliance.
The Manufacturing & Export Enhancement (MEE) Cluster, is a not-for-profit based in Alberta, with both Federal and Provincial government funding to help Western Canadian manufactures adopt new technologies and digitization practices.
Launched in early 2021, the MEE Cluster is industry-led with support from Next Generation Manufacturing (NGen); one of Canadaâs Global Innovation Clusters. The MEE Cluster is comprised of industry members and program partners that provide input into cluster projects. We have been charged with creating an ecosystem to foster growth and technology adoption, along with resources and a network of solution providers. We have connected to the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC to offer our services and support for BCâs manufacturers and food processors.
The MEE Cluster’s Cornerstone program is the LEAN Accelerator Program, which is designed to help manufacturers build awareness of smart manufacturing best practices and adopt new processes to improve manufacturing efficiency and competitiveness. The LEAN Accelerator Program helps companies gain insight into manufacturing operationsâbottlenecks, non-value-added activities, and unnecessary costs.
A team of experienced industry experts at the MEE Cluster:
- Offers onsite assessments with our qualified LEAN and digital consultants.
- Provides recommendations on how manufacturers can utilize LEAN and Smart Manufacturing best practices in their operations.
- Identify opportunities to implement automation and Smart Manufacturing technologies (reduce waste, increase productivity and quality, decrease lead times).
- Facilitates and leads onsite workshops focused on LEAN skills training.
One of the benefits of LEAN is improved safety; by placing a focus on overall cleanliness, keeping tools organized and equipment maintained, and work areas properly defined and aisles clear. LEAN also impacts safety is by placing a large focus on the development and use of standard operating procedures. Through the adoption of LEAN strategies, companies gain tools and practices that improve discipline in the areas of preventative maintenance and proper work instructionâcontributing to a safer working environment.
The MEE Cluster’s LEAP Program helps companies unleash the full potential of their organization by giving their people proven tools to solve problems, set goals, and achieve critical objectives in a timely manner.
