Digital Marketing Specialist

The Digital Marketing Specialist develops and optimizes the online experience of Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC members, event attendees, partners, and other website visitors through website development, content strategy and creation—and expands the reach of our online platforms through SEO and advertising.

In this role, you will collaborate in developing strategy and content for a range of multi-channel content marketing campaigns. You will also be a key contributor to the production and promotion of Alliance events, including high-profile annual conferences and a gala award ceremony.

Your primary responsibilities will include:

  • Website administration
  • Web SEO and optimization
  • Event social media strategy and campaigns
  • Advertising strategy and campaigns
  • Content development – events and advertising
  • Backend web development

What You’ll Be Doing

Web Administration and Development

  • Maintain and update the company’s website using WordPress
  • Collaborate with a web designer to implement page and web element designs created in Sketch or Adobe XD
  • Routinely back up website. Maintain and upgrade WordPress and plugins, and integrations with third-party solutions
  • Develop and maintain registration and e-commerce components
  • Build and manage a member database and access
  • Ensure websites meet accessibility and privacy standards and are responsive and compatible across browsers and mobile devices
  • Contribute to keyword research and analysis, and monitor and improve SEO results
  • Review and optimize site performance using Google Analytics

Web Experience and Optimization

  • Partner with the Marketing Manager and Web Designer to develop and implement an effective web experience strategy that includes SEO, website performance, and user experience design
  • Analyze, monitor, and optimize web content for SEO and website performance; partner with the marketing team on content messaging, development, and creative
  • Implement web designs from Sketch or XD using PHP, Javascript, and CSS
  • Implement shortcodes, integrations, and plugins as required

Advertising and Promotion

  • Partner with the Marketing manager and team to develop a multi-channel event promotion strategy that includes social media, advertising, and other outreach channels
  • Implement social media campaigns to promote event attendance, fulfill sponsor and exhibitor commitments, and expand awareness of the Manufacturing Safety Alliance of BC and our key event programs. Partner with the manager and team in the design and implementation of these campaigns and supporting messaging and creative
  • Coordinate event campaigns with the Communications and Media Specialist’s program, training, and advocacy campaign plans and scheduling
  • Monitor cross-channel advertising and social media campaigns; report and optimize performance

General

  • Complete ongoing safety training as required by the organization and professional development as required to perform required job duties.
  • Provide assistance with marketing administration as required

Location and Travel

  • Based in Chilliwack, BC, this position supports a hybrid of remote and office-based work
  • May require occasional travel for conferences or other events within BC

Salary Range

  • $74,000 to $86,000

Who You Are

You bring relevant experience and education to the position, including:

  • Experience in developing, administering, and maintaining WordPress websites
  • Fluency with HTML and CSS. JavaScript and PHP coding experience highly preferred
  • Strong content marketing strategy and development skills: copywriting, editing
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, problem-solving, and project management skills
  • Proficiency with MS Office, CRM, AdWords, Google Analytics, and SEO tools
  • Basic proficiency with Adobe Creative Suite, Canva, or other creative tools, or with videography or video editing, would be an asset
  • Exceptionally organized, with a track record of meeting deadlines
  • Ability to work independently and remotely, to attend meetings onsite up to 4-5 times a month, and to travel very occasionally within BC to support events

In addition, you have:

  • A post-secondary degree or diploma in marketing or communications
  • Relevant training or equivalent experience in web development
