The provincial government has amended the Workers Compensation Act to establish requirements that asbestos abatement contractors must be licensed to operate in British Columbia, and that workers and employers who perform this work must complete mandatory safety training and certification. WorkSafeBC is responsible for implementing these requirements.

To keep employers informed, WorkSafeBC has released this Quarter 2 update, with an overview of the implementation plan and summary of the job analysis sessions recently conducted with external stakeholders.
